The Edgartown used to be a well known whaling port in the area, and at the present, it has turned out to be an awesome summer and tourist point with a huge number of houses contracted by the whaling captains and other high-flying people of the last century. The expansion of the inhabitants in the last 25 years has made a powerful regeneration of the older accommodations and dwelling units.

In addition, there also been the overhauling of the historical structures as well. Being an element of this endeavor, the Whaling Church, a huge church established in the 18th century has also been changed into a drama, theater other forms of performing arts center while the neighboring ‘Daniel Fisher House’ is currently being utilized for the diversity of social functions.

In addition to the structural design of the Edgartown, it can now easily be crossed through under your own steam or on the bicycle which makes it even more striking and eye-catching to the tourists coming from all over the world.

Edgartown has always been an attractive and fascinating place and this is the reason why it was utilized as the most important and major film shooting site. You can see it in Steven Spielberg's 1975 smash hit movie called ‘Jaws’.
